Best UTV Accessories for Riding in the Rain

Riding in the rain can be an exhilarating experience for riding, but not when you’re soaking wet. Although your UTV might have a roof, it isn’t enough to keep you totally dry. While getting a little wet is no big deal, getting soaked is quite the opposite. Who wants to spend the day in drenched pants? Not you! Despite the discomfort, the soaked clothing can bring on body chills, which could lead to you getting sick. When rain is in the forecast, you can plan ahead so your riding gear is waterproofed. Here are the best UTV riding gear accessories that will make rides in the rain much more enjoyable.

  1. Full-Size Windshield: Does your UTV have a windshield installed? If not, there are many of these available online that will fit your make and model. While there are half windshields available, a full windshield will be ideal in blocking the most rain. Choose one that features a multi-vent design, so air can circulate through the UTV. Folding windshields are also great options, as it folds down when you don’t really need it.

  2. Roof: If your UTV doesn’t already have a roof, it’s a serious game changer. From blocking the sun to preventing you from getting drenched during rain storms, a roof is an excellent add-on to your UTV. Many choose aluminum roofs with rain guards. Some roofs feature integrated drainage channels that route water away from the driver. Best of all, they can make your ride safer for you and your passengers.

  3. Storage Case: Although UTVs have a lot of space, you’ll want to be extra cautious about your loose items you bring along with you. Heavy rain can ruin your things in an instant if you aren’t prepared. Equip your UTV with a hard-shell storage case to keep all of your emergency supplies, food, technology, and other items secure and dry. It’s easy to find one that fits your intended area, and many of them are designed with add-ons like dividers, insulation, water bottle holders, tie-downs, and more.

  4. UTV Doors: Your UTV may already have doors, however some models come without them. Doors should be at the top of your list for various reasons, but they’ll also be extremely useful while riding in the rain. They’ll help keep rain out of the UTV and keep you warmer as you ride. Plus, if you’re riding in the woods, doors will prevent tree limbs from hitting you. Typically, doors install fairly easily and enhance the look of your UTV.

  5. Waterproof Boots: Choose a pair of waterproof boots that will effectively keep your socks and feet dry. If your boots weren’t originally waterproofed, you can apply a wax or spray to make them more water resistant. If you’re very concerned about your boots letting rain in, you can also strap on boot covers overtop of your boots for additional protection. These will greatly reduce the chance of water seeping into your shoes.

  6. Pants or Bibs: The fabric of your pants is important when riding in the rain on your UTV. Choose a pair that is made with nylon to help deflect the rain. Prefer bibs instead? These will help shut out water as well, providing excellent comfort and warmth too. Check out pants and bibs from Frogg Toggs, Fly Racing, First Gear, and others.

  7. Rain Jacket: Your rain jacket should be designed with PVC material to deflect rain. Since you’ll be riding, you’ll work up a sweat despite the downpour. Ensure your jacket has vents to promote ventilation inside. Otherwise, you may become overheated and uncomfortable.

  8. Neck Gaiter: UTV riding is no clean sport. Keep your face clear of mud with a neck gaiter. They’re inexpensive and breathable, so you won’t feel too restricted. If the rain has brought the temperature down, a neck gaiter will also help preserve warmth, so your ears and face are kept warm.

  9. Riding Goggles: Visibility is a must while riding. If you find that rain is coming into the UTV sideways, it may be affecting your eyesight. Bring along a pair of goggles to keep your disposal should the rain really start to pour. They’ll ensure clear visibility to help you navigate the trails safely.

  10. Helmet: A helmet is an essential part of off-roading no matter what type you’re engaging in. If you’re not interested in purchasing a roof, a helmet will keep your head nice and dry alongside protecting it in the event of an accident as you ride in these wet conditions. Don’t leave home without it!

Riding in the rain can be a lot of fun when planned accordingly! With these accessories, you’ll be much more comfortable and drier as you cruise down the trails. Not only will you be able to keep your things safe, but your overall safety will be much improved. Head out in the rain with confidence with your new UTV accessories. Happy riding!
